Week 43: Blogging from the Air

Well, given that I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks and also given that I am blogging from the air, I couldn't resist the urge to capitalize on an opportunity to blog where I haven't blogged before - sky-high somewhere between Detroit and Chicago. For the Holidays, Google has teamed up with Delta to offer free wi-fi on Delta flights, so why not take advantage of it and test it out?

I am back to my normal way of things - wearing clothes that I have donned at some point earlier this year. I am still not shopping, and am starting to get the urge to re-connect with the world of fashion. I sighed yesterday as I purused my closet in search of a work-appropriate outfit that was not a suit, and landed on a pair of wool pants that I have not yet worn (they were hiding out in the closet upstairs) and a black sweater that I'm quickly realizing is a favorite (and that I should have bought it in red too given how much I wear it). My waistline still hasn't quite recovered from all the insane eating I did over the summer from all of my hedonistic vacationing, so several clothes are still off-limits.

For Thanksgiving, Mike and I headed down to Atlanta and stayed there for about 5 days - most of which were spent eating, drinking, and watching TV. I did manage to make it to my sister-in-law's gym 3 out of the 5 days and was once again reminded of how motivating it can be to belong to a large work-out facility where hot bodies with bared mid-driffs motivate you to do one more set of crunches (or, in my case, even a set of crunches). The first day, we attended a cardio resistance training class - where 15 minutes into it, I thought I was going to pass out. The second day we attended a kickboxing class led by a 42 yr. old woman who could easily pass for 20 with her faux-leather workout pants and boots adding to her youthful look (not to mention her amazing body). The last day, Sarah attended a class that she was signed up for while I jumped on an elliptical machine and then caught 30 minutes of a spinning class. Needless to say, I spent all weekend in soreness and being reminded of how out of shape I am. This has left me with a burning desire to change up my own routine back at home and consider enlisting in classes other than spinning and yoga. So...I have signed up for a more exotically-oriented form of workout - and I'll leave it at that.

We had our first snow today, which is finally making things seem like the holidays. The hassle of passing through airport security and having to take off layers of clothing also is making winter a reality. I really don't know where all the time has gone - but the weeks are definitely going faster and blurring together. So much to the point that when almost drinking the remnants of a saved cup of orange juice from McDonald's the other day, I about downed the liquid until I realized that the juice was from 2 weeks ago! People say that time will only go faster and faster as I get older - oh joy! I guess the one silver lining in all of this is that my no-shopping challenge will be over before I know it!

Well, the captain is indicating that we are on our descent down into Chi-town, so time to sign off. This internet from the air thing isn't half bad!
